Made in a fair-trade artisian village, these lovely besoms are crafted by hand out of smoked, hand harvested bamboo and sticky rice.
The besom is a tool for ritual and magick, generally used to symbolically purify a space before ritual and spellcraft begins. Before a ritual is performed, the practitioner may use a besom to create a sacred space by sweeping the area while visualizing the psychic "dirt" (aka negative energy) being swept, or cleared, away. This ancient custom also helps to prepare the mind for the ritual by quieting the consciousness and narrowing one's focus. The besom is a purifier and is viewed by some traditions to be related to the element of water. The besom is also seen as a symbol of protection. Many witches keep a besom by their door, or hanging above their door, to protect the home from unwanted outside energies. In keeping with ancient tradition, this finely crafted besom is made from materials taken from nature (and nature is thanked for its gifts in return!). 35 inches in length and a 5 pound ship weight.
